Community-Focused Service

Clay believes public service starts with responsibility to neighbors and the community, not politics. In service to the community, he has been instrumental in the early-stage development of local nonprofits and has held Director and Officer positions in many you may be familiar with:

  • Art to Heart
  • Hill Country Amateur Radio Club
  • Kerr Konnect
  • Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas
  • Kerr County Patriots
  • Toastmasters

He has also been a member of the Sheriffs Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) for years and has written numerous grants for local organizations.  These experiences have reinforced his belief that strong communities are built through service, cooperation, and responsible leadership.

Clay is Ready for Our Challenges

Kerr County faces increasingly complex challenges, particularly when it comes to flood mitigation, infrastructure reliability, and responsible long-term planning. These challenges demand more than good intentions.  Clay brings proven experience, disciplined management, and steady leadership to these challenges.

Clayson “Clay” Lambert is running for Kerr County Commissioner, Precinct 1 because the county and its citizens deserve leadership with the right skills and experience necessary to meet these challenges head-on.  He feels compelled to apply his sound capabilities to strengthen county government because when the County is more efficient, operational costs go down and taxes follow.

Proven Management Experience

Clay brings more than two decades of real-world management and engineering experience to the table. During his 23-year career with Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer, he served for eleven years as a Senior Engineering Specialist, managing engineers responsible for refinery and gas plant control projects across a large region.

Throughout his career, Clay successfully led complex, multi-million-dollar projects, consistently delivering results on time and on or under budget. He understands firsthand the importance of planning, accountability, and cost control — skills that are essential to preventing costly county project overruns.

In addition, Clay has over 20 years of experience in budgeting, personnel management, and vendor contract negotiations, producing significant organizational savings. He also guided the design of control and alarm systems comparable in complexity to county flood warning infrastructure, ensuring reliability, safety, and cost effectiveness.

Clay has successfully implemented “Continuous Improvement” programs that review operations annually, identify inefficiencies, reduce expenses, and improve outcomes. He believes Kerr County should adopt similar practices to better serve taxpayers and residents.

Management Philosophy

Clay’s approach to leadership is practical and disciplined:

  • It is not the County’s money; it is yours and it MUST be spent wisely
  • Work within available revenue and avoid unnecessary borrowing
  • Plan ahead for long-term water availability and infrastructure needs
  • Conduct annual operational reviews to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Eliminate incremental budgeting and seek to streamline departmental expenses
  • Maintain open, effective two-way communication with Precinct 1 residents

Clay believes government should operate with the same care and responsibility as a well-run organization, always mindful that it is spending taxpayer dollars.

Conservative Principles

Clay is a lifelong fiscal conservative who believes government should follow the Constitution and remain focused on its core responsibilities. He supports limited government, personal responsibility, and transparent decision-making.

      When Government Grows, Liberty Shrinks!

He first became involved with the Kerr County Republican Party in 2002.  He served as the elected Chair of Precinct #109 for the Kerr County Republican Party and brings that same sense of duty and accountability to his candidacy.

Clay has no business commitments that would divide his attention. If elected, he will serve as a full-time commissioner, fully dedicated to the responsibilities of the office and the needs of Precinct 1 and its constituents.

Family, Faith

Clay and his wife have six children, and fourteen grandchildren. He attends Hosanna Lutheran Church and believes faith, family, and service are foundational to a strong community.
As a husband, father, grandfather, and longtime Kerr County resident, Clay understands that the decisions made at the county level affect real families, real property, and real livelihoods. He is running for Commissioner because he believes Kerr County deserves leadership that plans ahead, listens carefully, and manages taxpayer resources with the same discipline families and businesses must use every day.

A vote for Clay is a vote For The Candidate That will Bring solid leadership and Much Needed skills To County Government.
